SADISTIC HUBRIS: FOOLISHNESS OF NIOBE AND THE ARROGANCE OF OBASANJO.

Odu Ifa OGBE OBARA is one of the verses in the literary corpus of our oral IFA divination encompassing the cosmology of Yoruba traditional religion. This is a literary corpus that spoke vividly against arrogance, foolish pride, overconfidence, sadistic megalomania and narcissism, warning us of the tendency that they can lead to greed.

It is important to be succinct here that greed or greedy personality lacks humility and the absence of humility signposted human negative energy for absolute control and power at all cost thereby leading to the destruction of self.

This is the ODU IFA that Olusegun Obasanjo needs to look at as he traverses the last journey of life in his 80s.

Mythologies abound with personalities that in the course of the last journey of their lives exude hubris and over-estimation leading them to lose any semblance with reality. Olusegun Obasanjo is walking that path by Vuvuzelization of what he sees as his own competence and accomplishment while destroying others achievements in a Machiavellian paradigm.

According to Aristotle, hubris is a personality disorder cum embedded sadism. It is a painful emotions or shaming and the damnation of the victim by the perpetrator for no other reasons than self gratification of the perpetrator. Olusegun Obasanjo encapsulates what Aristotle described. Here we are dealing with a no just cause action of a sadist ill-treating others just to make a bold statement about his ill-conceived superiority.

In Greek mythology, hubris is a punishable offence and it is the pride that goes just before the fall. Niobe is here instructive and Olusegun Obasanjo is looking more like Pharaoh.

'' To summarize, Pharaoh in the Qur’an is the epitome of the arrogant, unjust, and egoistic man of power, who calls those below him to worship at the altar of his conceit. Acknowledging the truth of tawhid in his heart, he deliberately suppresses this truth in order to arrogate to himself the attributes that rightfully belong to Allah.'' ―(Pharaoh and the Sin of Hubris in the Qur’an) by Vincent J. Cornell, University of Arkansas.

“Pride gets no pleasure out of having something, only out of having more of it than the next man... It is the comparison that makes you proud: the pleasure of being above the rest. Once the element of competition is gone, pride is gone.” ― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

We see Olusegun Obasanjo megalomaniacal footsteps in every threshold, nooks and crannies of Nigeria that he puts his Hubristic Megaphonic Vuvuzela, bragging about his ill-conceived superiority forgetting that he only has a limited aperture.
Nigeria and Nigerians have moved beyond Ota farm. COME DOWN FROM YOUR HIGH HORSE so that you can see vividly. “A proud man is always looking down on things and people; and, of course, as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something that is above you.” ― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

Olusegun Obasanjo, please read C.S Lewis, Mere Christianity where he wrote '' that pride is the "anti-God" state, the position in which the ego and the self are directly opposed to God: "Unchastity, anger, greed, drunkenness, and all that, are mere fleabites in comparison: it was through Pride that the devil became the devil: Pride leads to every other vice: it is the complete anti-God state of mind."

This is your life Olusegun Obasanjo. IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO ACCEPT THAT  MUHAMMADU BUHARI IS THE PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA.

OTUNBA ADE ILEMOBADE IS A PHILOSOPHER.
