REVERSE POLITICAL SUBORDINATION: NIGERIAN CITIZENS WELL-BEING AND SECURITY FORCES BRUTALITY.

In my previous article I proclaimed that the gods and deities were at war with Nigerians and Nigerian security forces  because of the fundamental antagonism and illiberal brutish attitude of our security organizations. Pardon me, I would like to add another dimension to our narrative by positing that this is not only because they have decided to congregate with ESHU the god of cruelty as I earlier proclaimed but also of the fact that they have refused to yield to ESHU's sacrificial demand and injunction to stop shedding innocent Nigerian citizens blood since such activity belongs to the realm of OGUN the only one allowed to take a life.

Surprisingly, our security forces/organizations with the responsibilities to protect, serve, and secure Nigeria and all tangibles and intangibles therein have decided instead to feed ESHU with blood which is a contradiction as he/she feeds on bloodless offerings and the implication of this abomination has resulted into the sheer madness and gross violating of our peace of mind, harmony and sense of justice.

It is stomach-turning to read in the Nigerian newspaper @premiumtimes this morning of another invasion by security forces precisely Knife-wielding Nigerian Air Force personnel raiding Osun State University campus Ipetu Ijesha, brutalizing students, lecturers and destroying properties in the town. What has taken over Nigeria I asked soliloquizingly with an uncoordinated reflections on the historical of security forces perpetration of human rights violations since independence. Oh God nothing has changed I exclaimed sweating profusely and suddenly the question of Nigerian citizens well-being and security forces brutality crosses my mind.

What is the correlationship of citizens well-being juxtaposition with security forces brutality. Put differently what is the state of well-being of Nigerian citizens in terms of welfare, happiness, comfortableness, health, security and life expectancy when placed side by side with daily brutality cum psychological trauma perpetrated on them by their own security forces.

The importance of security cannot be overemphasised and behavioural civilize methodological handling of issues at the point of interaction of security forces with the public in an environment that is purely civilianised says a lot in terms of outcomes in respect of citizens well-being in a liberal democracy.

The well-being of Nigerian citizen is nothing to write home about it is a life filled with so many ugly tales of the unexpected within the purview of security forces brutalization, pestilence of human rights abuses and the palpable fear of death on every street corners as a result of an unfortunate encounter is horrifying. Where can we situate the origo of this problem.

My assumption is that inadequate knowledge about good reputation, lack of proper indoctrination about the right behavioural paradigm, lack of accountability coupled with non-existence of discipline regime and corruption have created a Medusa-like security forces in Nigeria always looking for blood with vampire vengeance thereby leaving the citizenry comatose.

I want to make it clear here that there are other factors militating against the well-being of Nigerian citizens but my focus here is on the impact of security forces brutality and the overarching issues of political instability and revenge violence that may come from that on the part of the citizens if they decide to take up arms against the security forces out of frustration.

Most Nigerians are traumatised and under extreme sadness, anger, sense of psychological hopelessness and post traumatic stress disorder as consequences of security forces brutalization. This violence must stop because here we have a fundamental constitutional question bordering on rights of citizens and responsibility of government as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution.

The constitution of Nigeria Chapter 2 Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy and Chapter 4 Fundamental Rights are very explicit on rights and responsibility requirements on this troubling development.
The onus is now on the civil authority to do an indepth investigation of all possible causes of this friction with the ultimate aim and sincere purpose of finding lasting solution to security forces human rights abuses on Nigerian citizens before the atmosphere becomes more explosive and a national security threat created wherein political instability and revenge violence might lead to a new insurgency as a result of populace frustration.

Tunisia, Moldovia, Ukraine, DRC, Burundi, even here at home Boko Haram started as a result of brutality and the failure of civil authority to respond appropriately.
According to Obasanjo "He said, Violent extremism does not just spring overnight. For me, each of us has some form of extremism in us. What then makes extremism go violent? This happens when grievances are not immediately addressed. They go violent when they are left unaddressed or untreated''

Let us learn from our past mistakes, security forces brutality and violence against Nigeria citizens must stop if we do not want socio-cultural organizations taking up arms against the security forces in defence of their humanity.

Note that evidences presented to us daily are alarming. Please General Olonishakin and General Buratai stop this monster because Nigerians are deeply angry. Please wake up now!!! A stitch in time saves nine.

LONG LIVE THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.
