NIGERIA: POLITICAL EXPECTATIONS IN SPATIO-TEMPORALISM OF HOPELESSNESS.

“The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation. From the desperate city you go into the desperate country, and have to console yourself with the bravery of minks and muskrats. A stereotyped but unconscious despair is concealed even under what are called the games and amusements of mankind. There is no play in them, for this comes after work. But it is a characteristic of wisdom not to do desperate things..” ― Henry David Thoreau, Civil Disobedience and Other Essays.

This article is not about geostatistics or geographical data mining rather it is about the analysis of spatial and temporal reality of hopelessness created by the present corps of politicians in Nigeria whose stock in trade is deceitfulness or perfection of selective delusion wherein the populace is herd into paradigm of expectations.

It is often baffling how present corps of Nigerian politicians are able to manipulate electorates to accept appearance as reality without any attempt to doubt the inherent contradictions of their claims. Nigerians have become so gullible to the extent that given the proficiency of present corps of  Nigerian politicians in convincing with falsehood, one can described them as mesmerizer extraordinaire.

Our present political landscape is looking more like a theater of absurdity when and if we juxtaposition it with what was obtainable immediately post emacipation in respect of the predictability of policies and promises deliverablility by political party organizations. Post Independence electorates were assured of key performance indicators like provision of schools, health facilities, good roads or transport networks, employment opportunities, and other projects directed toward(s) socio economic developments of the nation.

It is common knowledge that time is a significant element in realpolitik because of the system natural gravitation philosophically speaking toward(s) "realpragmatism" world. Therefore, success of any political party organization within a spatio-temporalism of hopelessness as currently pervades the geopolitical conurbation known as Nigeria would be contingent on the syncronization of available policy mechanism to bring the political expectations of the electorates closer to reflect current progress and achievements.

There is currently gross disparity between raised expectations of the people in respect of deliverables, promises on dividend of democracy made by political party organization during electioneering and reality while in government if/when the electorates juxtaposition it with current progress and achievements.
This phenomenon of failed, tantalizing promises is spreading like wildfire at tripartite level of governmental administration and this is leading to despair amongst the populace I am just hoping that those in authority would put on their ''optical mind'' to understand this phenomenon.

Our politicians must understand the pyschological implications of their untruthfulness to the people who become depressed, unhappy whenever their hopes are raised with tantalizing promises creating mass expectations and hysteria only to be dashed whenever/because those promises are unrealizable thereby increasing hopelessness as a daily reality in our communities.

Nigerians must stop looking into stream with the hope of finding concrete reality only to be confronted with a mirage or a shadowy political figure with a steady current of lie telling us about glorious tomorrow if elected. It is time to be critical, debunk their fallacious argumentations and look into their antecedents peeling them open progressively to get into the nucleus of their character or humanity.

This is one of the many ways in my opinion that we Nigerians would be able to overcome unrealizable political expectations in spatio-temporalism of hopelessness.

“The greatest story every(any)one can tell is the story of their life. Just don't let the climax of your story be unrealized dreams.”― Unarine Ramaru.
