AD HOMINEN: THE LABYRINTH OF AMERICAN POLITICS AND NIGERIAN FEMINISTS.
It was late summer holiday evening in
Baltimore while taking a walk along the Patapsco after a visit to some of the
city public monuments. I sat down with a family friend of mine for a sumptuous
meal of Brazilian gaucho-style Rodizio with delicious fruit juice while
ruminating or should I say discussing American politics in respect of Trump and
Clinton dichotomization coupled with the irrationality that has taken over
political discourse in America.
My friend alerted me to the feminists
propaganda festering around and in support of Hilary Rodham Clinton that he
thought would make middle class working white male and conservative religious
white female turn against her with their votes going to Donald Trump and the
whole story is now history. Donald Trump is the president elect of the United
States of America.
What is interesting here is the fact that
some pseudo feminists in Nigeria have usurped the irrationality that has taken
over political discourse in America and have created what I call Feminists
Hangouts dotted around the country to project the failure of Hilary Rodham
Clinton as epitomizing the fight of a girl child to break the so called glass
ceiling forgetting that this election is about breaking the stranglehold of
corrupt American establishment and pseudo liberals speaking from both sides of
their Creutzfeld Jakob infested mouth.
Americans are tired of babysitting
government and I want to say here that such political tsunami or earthquake is
likely to occur in Europe if European political leaders do not retrace their
missteps and do the right things. Brexit is here instructive and if we do not
want Euroexit take heed now to avoid political harakiri.
Nigerian feminists have gone on social
media, print and electronic radio/television to character assassinate Donald
Trump by deliberate misrepresention of the core issue at hand, I wonder whether
character murder ad hominen is a good logical argument to win a discourse so
significant as gender equity. The answer in my view is No.
This American election wherein Donald Trump was elected president in my opinion is not about gender because the opponent Hilary Rodham Clinton is not disadvantage in anyway going forward. She is privileged and furthermore she spent more money influencing electorates than Donald Trump not forgetting the role played by the incumbent president Barack Obama and the establishment Apparatchik.
Therefore, to resort to argumentum ad
misericordiam that because she is a woman she lost and the glass ceiling cock
and bull story is to present barefaced lies to the world and those peddling
such argument are not doing justice to the achievement of Hilary Rodham Clinton
because I do not believe she will recognise herself in that pity narrative and
if she did then she is sending a very wrong and dangerous message to all young
girls worldwide because she is in denial.
Another fallacious reasoning observable
amongst Nigerian feminists is the illogicality of the narrative that says to
teenage girls that ''if they go to school, get good grades, work hard, really
hard, they’ll achieve anything they put their minds to?"-OSASU IGBINEDION.
I agree with Osasu that this notion is problematic. However, you do not
necessarily achieve everything you put your mind to because the reality of life
is different and achieving anything to me means nothing to achieve because you
are still in a state of flux. This kind of reasoning is potentially dangerous
for young girls because most of the time premises are based on anecdotes and
overgeneralization.
In conclusion, I want to urge Nigerian
feminists to stop false cause fallacy and take a good look at the whole picture
to avoid dumping young impressionable Nigerian girls into abyss of
tantalization.
