CBN GOVERNOR: GODWIN EMEFIELE THE PURVEYOR OF CLASSISM AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC DISCRIMINATION.

The recent revelation that ''The Federal Character Commission says it is unaware of a waiver authorising the Central Bank of Nigeria to conduct a secret recruitment of hundreds of new employees, comprising dozens of family members of serving and past senior government officials, including President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew''.-premiumtimesng

This is a vivid manifestation that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria has a well programmed agenda of socio-economic disenfranchisement of working class and poor people of Nigeria.

Socio-economic discrimination is a systematic, paradigmatic surbordination of an individual or groups to terrible inhumane deprivation on the bases of familial economic or social status in any given society.

This is one of the most complex and damaging inequalities leading to dehumanizing economic apartheidism because of its impact on socio-economic mobility for the individual or groups affected. Is Godwin Emefiele preaching apartheid?

Please do not forget the fact that we are dealing with a Cephalopod with tentacles to other forms of inequality and discrimination.

Godwin Emefiele has started on a journey of ignominy that would lead to revolution if something is not done quickly to address the inequality and systemic oppression known as Classism that he is trying to establish in other to keep his job as Central Bank Governor.

The Constitution of Nigeria is very clear on the issues raised by Godwin Emefiele indiscretions.

Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy:
(a) Every citizen shall have equality of rights, obligations and opportunities before the law.
(b) All citizens, without discrimination on any group whatsoever, have the opportunity for securing adequate means of livelihood as well as adequate opportunity to secure suitable employment.
(c) There is equal pay for equal work without discrimination on account of sex, or on any other ground whatsoever.

Godwin Emefiele is psychologically destroying the self-esteem and motivation of kids born into working class or poor families thereby pigeonholing generations of kids into economic deprivation just by virtue of the circumstances of their birth.

What Is Classism?

Classism is differential treatment based on social class or perceived social class. Classism is the systematic oppression of subordinated class groups to advantage and strengthen the dominant class groups. It’s the systematic assignment of characteristics of worth and ability based on social class.

That includes:

Individual attitudes and behaviors; systems of policies and practices that are set up to benefit the upper classes at the expense of the lower classes, resulting in drastic income and wealth inequality; the rationale that supports these systems and this unequal valuing; and the culture that perpetuates them.

Classism is held in place by a system of beliefs and cultural attitudes that ranks people according to economic status, family lineage, job status, level of education, and other divisions.

Middle-class and owning- or ruling-class people (dominant group members) are seen as smarter and more articulate than working-class and poor people (subordinated groups). In this way, dominant group members (middle-class and wealthy people) define for everyone else what is “normal” or “acceptable” in the class hierarchy.

People who are poor/working class sometimes internalize the dominant society’s beliefs and attitudes toward them, and play them out against themselves and others of their class. Internalized classism is the acceptance and justification of classism by working class and poor people. Examples include: feelings of inferiority to higher-class people; disdain or shame about traditional patterns of class in one’s family and a denial of heritage; feelings of superiority to people lower on the class spectrum than oneself; hostility and blame towards other working-class or poor people; and beliefs that classist institutions are fair.

People who are middle-class and wealthy sometimes internalize the dominant society’s beliefs and attitudes toward them, and play them out against others.  Internalized superiority is the acceptance and justification of class privilege by middle-class and wealthy people.  Class privilege include the many tangible or intangible unearned advantages of “higher” class status, such as personal contacts with employers, “legacy admissions” to higher education, inherited money, good childhood health care, quality education, speaking with the same dialect and accent as people with institutional power, and having knowledge of how the systems of power operate. -culled from Classism.org

President @mbuhari came into power with the rhythmic slogan''I Belong To Everybody & I Belong To Nobody'' coupled with the CHANGE agenda to do things differently but it seems people around him have a different perspectives to change in the sense that they would rather maintain the status quo thereby making Nigerians have doubt about the commitment of the President to revolutionise Nigeria rather than the cosmetic hapharzard, jundiced methodology and fraudulent practices as reflected by Godwin Emefiele discriminatory tendencies resulting in a recruitment saga that smells like a putrefying cadaver.

This is the moment for the President to take a decisive action to reverse all those appointments in the interest of justice, fairness and for posterity because those people mentioned in this fraudulent machinations are closer to him and he must be seen to be doing the right things when it matters.

I am worried about his silence in respect of this conundrum because Nigerians are being denied opportunities, discriminated against in their own country. How can he as president goes out and challenge discrimination perpetrated against Nigerians in the diaspora given the fact that at home in his front room Nigerians are denied opportunities.

This to me is a fundamental existential question for @mbuhari and @abikedabiri to answer, we are waiting for their responses to this painful socio-economic discrimination question.

The so called political elites in Nigeria must avoid the anger of our proletariat because it is in their best interest to do so. It should not be business as usual because youth unemployment is high and I must say vehemently that the anger is building up and very soon if action is not taken to address this fundamental issue of deliberate denial of opportunities for the working class or poor kids from disadvantage homes in Nigeria we might have to sleep with our eyes open ''Sleepless night syndrome".

Please let the social programmes of the @mbuhari administration start now without any delay since we have the Budget 2016 passed.

The specter of discrimination and disenfrachisement with all the bourgeoise vultures encircling in an unholy alliance against the poor might be explosive if we remain cocooned in our complacency like Nicolae Ceaușescu.
